Urban Sprouts Cookery Camp

where math, reading, science and art MIX with kids

Let’s Get Cooking!

The Cookery Camp is set up to promote healthy eating and nutrition for children, young people and families through fun and educational cookery workshops and classes.
The CookeryCamp introduces children to the delights of healthy and tasty food.

Children love to cook! So we offer a variety of cooking programs for children and young people.  We have classes for Grown-Ups and workshops for teachers and others interested in starting a cooking club.  All provided in a safe and positive environment at our purpose-build teaching kitchen located in the Brownsville Parks and Recreation building.  We strongly believe that children of all ages will develop good eating habits by becoming actively involved in planning and preparing the food they eat.  We even grow our own fresh veggies, herbs and fruit at the Learning Gardens in Lincoln Park.

Why should you enroll your child? He/she will learn to:

  • create nutritionally balanced, yummy, healthy meals
  • cook with whole grains, beans and legumes, fruit and vegtables, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices
  • make holistic food choces with out scrimping on taste.

Our objective is to give all participants the tools to change at least one thing in their lives that will contribute to healthier living. And its not just about cooking.  Urban Sprouts Cookery Camp is committed to complement cookery skills with other learning opportunities.

We pride ourselves in having the ability to enthuse children of all ages during cooking sessions -so much so they are eager to try things at home!  The recipes are specially chosen for suitability of skills, nutritional values and the variety of world wide taste.  There is plenty of teamwork, leaning moments and laughter.  Particpants will come back for more -fun, knowledge, skills and tasty food!
